All classes at the large and cool Mills Gym at the Jamaica Y.  89-25 Parsons Blvd. Jamaica, NY 11432.  Directions can be found at www.mapquest.com or www.hopstop.com. Jamaica Y is a few blocks away from the last stop on the E,F,J/Z train lines.

 

2:30 to 3:30 p.m.

Kutiro/Djembe with Maguette Camara

Maguette makes it look so easy and leaves your heart filled with so much joy that you can't help to smile despite the major workout you get from his fast-paced, fun class.  Both his dance moves and warm-spirit are a key reason why he stays at the top of everyone's list of favorite dance teachers.

 

3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Guinea Dance with Mamady Sano

Mamady has a smooth, upbeat, fast-paced, adrenaline-inducing style that makes him one of the most sought after teachers in the country.  When he isn't globe-trotting and sharing his moves with students from around the world you can take his classes at the Alvin-Ailey extension and today you can enjoy him at Queens' Largest African-Dance Conference!

 

5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Congolese Dance with Biza Sompas

We can't get enough of Biza so he will be teaching more of his sensuous and smooth Congolese moves.

 

6:30 to 8:00 p.m.

Djembe Dance with M'Bemba Bangoura

Join one of New York's top master drummers and dancers for a fast-paced and fun class that can be enjoyed by both beginner and professional students alike.  One class with M'bema and you wonder why people go to the gym to workout when they can simply dance!

 

8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Special 2-hour Doun-Dounba and Mali dance celebration with Mamady Sano, Ismael Kouyate and Jewel love.  Need I say more? The dance floor will be on fiyah! Dress in your finest African dance attire.  We will do a brief warm-up because everyone will already be sizzling hot and then we will spend nearly two hours in a dance circle lead by some of the most popular master dance teachers in the city (if not the world)!
